For the past 40 years, I’ve built my Leader bona fides by crafting my career as an adventure. As Joseph Campbell writes, it has been the Hero’s journey. I believe all of us have the Hero’s Journey inside of us. It is a journey of self-discovery, of facing challenges, and emerging as the next best version of ourselves. This is the Journey I wish for you.
What might this journey look like for you. For each person the Journey is different. But the process is built for each Leader to have an experience of self-discovery. Who am I? The Journey is the experiential discovery for each person. The Oracle at Delphi, “Know Thyself” or a favorite poet of mine, Ranier Maria Rilke, “There is only one journey, the journey inside.” Finally, it is Aristotle who reminds us, “A life unexamined is a life not worth living.”
And so, we begin with the Call to Adventure. The Leader is called to embark on a quest that will challenge them and take them out of their comfort zone. In the Leader Operating System Council, high-performance executives are invited to embark on a journey to propel their careers, ignite their passion, and achieve their ambitious goals. This call to adventure requires them to step outside of their day-to-day work and to explore new opportunities for growth and development. It takes courage and bravery.
It rigor and resilience. It require a Leader to stay in curiosity. Are you that Leader?
